Accessing your super

Temporary Residents

Temporary Residents

If you have lived in Australia as a temporary resident, and you have departed the country permanently, there is no reason to leave your super behind.

If you departed Australia within the last six months, you can claim your superannuation directly from Asset Super. Simply contact our Client Service team on 1800 805 981 or email us.

If you left Australia more than six months ago, Asset has an obligation to pay an unclaimed superannuation of temporary residents to the Commissioner of Taxation. We are not obliged to notify you or give you an exit statement in relation to this payment under relief provided by ASIC. To make an application for your super, you should contact the Australian Taxation office by email.

This transfer doesn’t affect your access to your super, just simply changes who you apply to for payment.

Regardless of the time since you have left Australia, there are a number of conditions that you should be aware of in relation to your claim. For your convenience, we have set those out in a factsheet which you can simply download – just click here.
